Bette Midler to release first new album since 2006
Between appearing for an extensive run in Vegas, starring on Broadway in I’ll Eat You Last and on the big screen in Parental Guidance, Bette Midler has been plenty busy.
But one thing the multiple Grammy winner has not done in eight years is release a new album.
Whether she’s covering the songs of Peggy Lee, Rosemary Clooney or singing her own pop his like The Rose, From a Distance and Wind Beneath My Wings, Bette’s albums are always good and I own most of them.
And I’m eager to add It’s The Girls to the collection.
Billboard.com reports the album is due out Nov. 4.
It spans seven decades of famous girl groups and Bette says: “I have loved the sound of females harmonizing since I was a kid; I always sang along. Didn’t we all?”

Wuzzy says:
Duet with Darlene Love! Sweet sounds of heaven.
Joe says:
Thanks for the heads-up, Greg! Not only am I excited that Bette has recorded a new album, but I *LOVE* all the songs. Thrilled she’s singing with Darlene Love!
It really makes me sad and angry when older female artists don’t record anymore. Case in point, Diana Ross. I don’t know if the artists don’t want to record or the record companies aren’t interested. The voices I’ve loved my whole entire lifetime don’t get “old” or “stale” as the artist ages.
Charlie says:
Can’t wait! I hope I get it for Christmas!
Chip says:
I really hope it sounds good. The last few times I’ve heard her sing live there’s something missing. She’s getting older, but I guess it’s sad to hear some songs that just sound horrible now. Maybe they were just bad days. Hope so.
