Best of luck to Adam Lambert on tonight’s “Idol”

He’s been the front-runner all season long and has withstood the pressure. Tonight, Adam Lambert faces off in the finale of American Idol against his friend Kris Allen.

I don’t know about you, but I am ready for America to have its first openly-gay Idol winner.

Adam has never discussed his sexuality on the show but it became clear that he is a gay when several photos of him kissing other dudes surfaces on the Internet. His only response to them was to say: “I know who I am.”

New Yorker music critic Alex Ross says in today’s LA Times: “…There’s no sense that he’s ever tried to hide it. He’s totally matter of fact – and that is really startling to see on mainstream TV. It seems almost heroic to me.”

With sexual politics so dominating the news these days, it is the perfect time for Adam to be emerging as a star.
