Beloved Emmy winning actor and Instagram star Leslie Jordan has died at the age of 67

This is unbelievably sad and I know there are a lot of broken hearts about it: Leslie Jordan has died.

The Emmy-winning Will & Grace star who was currently co-starring in the sitcom Call Me Kat was just 67. He had found a new level of fame in recent years because of his hilarious and wonder Instagram posts that helped keep us entertained during the pandemic.

According to TMZ, Leslie was driving in Hollywood Monday morning when it’s suspected he suffered some sort of medical emergency and crashed his BMW into the side of a building.

He was on such a high after buying his first home just a month or two ago. It’s just so hard to believe that he’s gone.

After getting his big break in 1989 when he was cast in the first season of “Murphy Brown,” Leslie’s 30-year career was marked by scene-stealing roles in television shows such as “Bodies of Evidence” and “Hearts of Afire.” His fame grew while recurring as Beverly Leslie on NBC’s “Will and Grace,” as well as stints on Ryan Murphy’s “American Horror Story” franchise and the sitcom “The Cool Kids.”

It was always so great to see Leslie out and about. He was a wonderful red carpet interview always and he would go to all kinds of local events (we are pictured at The MisMatch Game in 2017). Saw his one-man show several times over the years too. But my favorite encounter ever was more than 10 years ago and I ran into him in line at the post office on Beverly near Fairfax and we just dished and dished and dished (all off the record!) and I was so glad, for once, for how slow that long line always moved. One thing I do remember talking about was the original Will & Grace finale and how his character flew out a window but his shoes did not follow.

I’ve enjoyed him in anything he’s ever done – especially The Cool Kids and Call Me Kat – and of course Will & Grace – and know he had so much in front of him.

It’s as very sad day. I’m so glad he got to really experience bigger stardom the past 2-3 years and he’s the one who made it happen by just being himself.

3 Remarks

  1. Absolutely heartrending. First became aware of him in the early 90s in the movie “Ski Patrol”. Never made me fail to laugh in almost anything he was in.

  2. So sad. He was such a delight. Wasn’t he also in an episode of Designing Women?

  3. Shocked when I saw the posts online that he’d died. At first I couldn’t believe it. I started following him on IG during the pandemic. I knew who he was prior to that, but hadn’t really paid much attention to the shows he was in. His beloved mother died earlier this year and a sister about a year ago. So sad for his remaining sister and family. RIP
