“Behind the Candelabra” gets 15 Emmy nods!

Don’t you just love that a movie about a gay love story can get huge ratings and stellar reviews and now get 15 Emmy nominations?

That’s what has happened with HBO’s Behind the Candelabra which tells the story of the relationship between Liberace and a much-younger man named Scott Thorson.

The film has earned Michael Douglas some of the best reviews of his career as Liberace and he seems a shoo-in to win best actor in a miniseries or movie. He’s already won an Oscar for best actor (Wall Street).

Matt Damon is among his competitors as Thorson and might have had a great chance of winning were he not up against Douglas.

From among the film’s large supporting cast, Scott Bakula earned a supporting actor nod. There are many people – myself included – disappointed that Rob Lowe was overlooked for his amazing performance – and unique look – as a wacko plastic surgeon.

The film, of course, is up for outstanding miniseries of movie.
