Barry Manilow presents KC and the Sunshine Band with a star on the Palm Springs Walk of Fame!
I was joking around on Facebook the other day that since KC and the Sunshine Band were being presented with a star on the Palm Springs Walk of Fame by Barry Manilow this weekend, I was gonna fill up the car with gas and head on down!
Well, I wasn’t going down but plenty of people seemed excited about KC getting the honor.
It just goes to show you how when a band is part of the soundtrack to your growing up years, they always have a place in your heart.
Their string of disco hits includes “That’s the Way (I Like It)”, “(Shake, Shake, Shake) Shake Your Booty”, “I’m Your Boogie Man”, “Keep It Comin’ Love”, “Get Down Tonight”, “Give It Up”, and “Please Don’t Go”.
My pal James Meier lives in Palm Springs (he’s an editor at The Desert Sun) and did attend the presentation and kindly emailed me these photos of Barry lead vocalist Harry Wayne Casey!

JJ??? Are you SERIOUS????? K.C, and the Sunshine Band was beining honored with the star and Mr. Manilow presented it and all you could find to say was Barry had had too much plastic surgery and his face is frightening????? Really????? I happen to know that YES he’s had some work done in the past. He’s admitted it himself however he does NOT look frightening but this isn’t up for debate here!!!!! What you did was highly disrespectful to Casey and his band AND to Barry!!! If you couldn’t find something nice to say then you shouldn’t have said anything at all. I, for one, am honored and pleased that KC and his band got their star. I use to listen to them growing up along with Barry. so Congratulations to them!!!

Thank you, Dawn, for saying exactly how I feel as well about the stupid comments about Barry having plastic surgery. I agree with everything you said totally, especially that the comments were disrespectful to Barry and KC and the Sunshine Band. Like Dawn said, if you can’t find something nice to say, then don’t say anything.
