Barry Manilow on being 80: ‘I’m Not About To Stop!’
Barry Manilow might have turned 80 this year, but he isn’t slowing down any time soon! Appearing on The Kelly Clarkson Show this week, Barry reflected on his long-lasting career, from starting as the “piano-playing mailboy” at CBS to breaking Elvis’ record for performing the most live shows in Las Vegas. Barry also dished on his new holiday special Barry Manilow’s A Very Barry Christmas and his mission to get instruments into the hands of high school students through his nonprofit The Manilow Music Project. Barry also revealed that when he was hesitant to leave his mailroom job behind early in his career to pursue his musical ambitions, so he turned to Playboy Magazine for advice! Barry also shared how Bette Midler helped him kickstart his performing career after the release of his first album.
