“The Tonight Show” host Jimmy Fallon tells Barbra Streisand: ‘I was afraid that you were going to be more of a nightmare’

Even after more than 50 years of stardom, Barbra Streisand remains kind of a really big deal.

And so was her first appearance on The Tonight Show in more than five decades.

Current host Jimmy Fallon broke with tradition and insisted that the great star sit behind the host’s desk.

‘This is the first time in over fifty years you’re here, I think you should sit behind the desk,’ he said. ‘Let’s be honest, you’re never coming back here.’

Streisand was the night’s only guest and performed a medley from her new album, Partners, out Tuesday.

The Oscar, Grammy, Emmy and special Tony winner wax a charming guest to whom Fallon said: ‘I was afraid that you were going to be more of a nightmare.’

Streisand, 72, insists that  she’s ‘quite ordinary’ and lives a simple life with husband James Brolin.

‘We don’t really like the big time stardom thing, so we stay home most of the time,’ she said. ‘That’s why I’m gonna write a book because I swear to God these myths are so far-fetched.’

One Remark

  1. I bet her book will be interesting, if she is fairly open with her life, which would be really surprising.
