As tribute to late Julie Harris, we revisit the “Knots Landing” scene when she scolds Alec Baldwin off of rooftop
Julie Harris died over the weekend at the age of 87.
What a career she had ranging from starring opposite James Dean in East of Eden to her long run on TV’s Knots Landing. Along the way, there were a record five Tony wins (Angela Lansbury and Audra MacDonald has since tied the record), three Emmy wins and even a Grammy win.
As a Knots Landing fanatic, I will never forget when Miss Harris, as Lllie Mae, literally scolds her wacko son (played by Alec Baldwin) off a rooftop where he falls to death.
This is one of the most memorable scenes in the awesome prime-time soap’s 14-year history and really put Baldwin in the map. His character was an evangelist also happened to be a loathsome control freak.
Here is his demise:

KNOTS was the best, period – hard to believe it has been 20 years since the series finale! I watched it from the beginning to the end – a classy show all the way around!
RIP Julie Harris, aka Lillie Mae

I remember it well. Alec improved as an actor, but was so cute, what happened?
As ever and as always, Julie was brilliant.
