Archie Panjabi wins supporting actress Emmy for playing lesbian on “The Good Wife”
The actress beat out a stellar field comprised of Rose Byrne of Damages, Sharon Gless of Burn Notice, Christine Baranski of The Good Wife and Christina Hendricks and Elisabeth Moss of Mad Men.
She seemed genuinely shocked to win in the category which had been expected to go to one of the Mad Men actresses.
“Working on The Good Wife is like a dream come true,” she said. “I have so many people to thank for giving me this incredible opportunity. … This is amazing for my career.”
The character of Kalinda is a lesbian and the win for the role was the second for a gay character Sunday night after Eric Stonestreet won for Modern Family. Out actress Jane Lynch won for playing the straight character of Sue Sylvester in Glee while openly gay Glee creator Ryan Murphy won a writing Emmy!

So well deserved. Every moment Panjabi is on camera she has shown what it is an actor can and could do. She has elevated the bar for professionalism.
Hamdy says:
Lesbian?!? Dude your imagination is running wild. She has only hooked up with men on this show.
