Angela Lansbury on never having won an Emmy after 18 nominations: ‘It bothers the hell out of me’

Angela Lansbury has five Tony Awards, a Grammy and an Honorary Oscar. She even has seven Golden Globe Awards for her film and television work and an Olivier Award for her most recent performance on the London stage.

But an Emmy?

Not one.

She’s been nominated 18 times for Emmys and never won including a dozen losses for her long-running series Murder, She Wrote.

Last weekend while being honored by the Los Angeles Press Club, Miss Lansbury was asked how she feels about all those Emmy snubs.

“It bothers the hell out of me,” she said to laughter in the Biltmore Hotel ballroom.

The Television Academy should right this wrong and present the 91-year-old legend with an honorary Emmy for lifetime achievement.

It would go over very well because not only is she so deserving, she is also so beloved.

3 Remarks

  1. Indeed, Greg! She deserves any award that’s out there. Such a magnificent woman in every way possible. I just love her so much.

  2. They ought to be ashamed of themselves.
I look forward to seeing/hearing that she is getting an award very soon. Agree with Joe–she is a beautiful talented lady & deserves
    an Emmy.

  3. Miss Lansbury is a wonderful performer in all venues. I am amazed that after being nominated an outstanding number of times with not one award received has not been investigated.
