Andy Murray wins the US Open!
It tied as the longest men’s final in US Open in history and after nearly five hours, Andy Murray emerged the winner – finally a grand slam champion!
Murray edged defending champion Novak Djokovic 7-6(12), 7-5, 2-6, 3-6, 6-2 and became the first British man in more than 70 years to win a grand slam tournament.
“I don’t know how I managed to come through in the end,” Murray said after the epic match.
Djokovic was classy in defeat: “It wasn’t to be, but I want to congratulate Andy for his first Grand Slam. He absolutely deserves it.”
Murray, runner up in four previous grand slam finals including at Wimbledon this year, won the Olympic gold medal last month defeating Roger Federer in that final.
Murray’s victory means that for the first time since 2003, four different men have won the year’s grand slam tournaments. Djokovic tool the Australian Open, Rafael Nadal the French Open, Federer won Wimbledon and now Murray has the US Open.
This leaves the number one ranking for the year very much up for grabs!

It was a great match for real, and that first set with the wind, wow, now maybe Murray will grow up and knock off all the swearing non-stop, which got OLD FASTER than it usually does with me.
