Andy Cohen to Real Housewives of Beverly Hills: We are not YOUR gays, “we are not cattle”
Andy Cohen had to share with the viewers of Bravo’s What Happens Live last night ‘something that’s been bugging the hell out of me.’
It seems several of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, whose show Cohen produces, have a habit of referring to their gay male friends as ‘my gays.’
Cohen decided to show footage of Kyle Richards, Lisa Rinna and others committing the offense and decided to make it a ‘teachable moment.’
Prefacing his lecture with a reaffirmation of his love for these ladies Cohen went on to say: ‘Even though some of your friends might be gay which is great, they are not "yours." You do not own them. We are not cattle. We are not purses. And the next time you feel like saying "my gays" replace it with ‘my blacks’ and see how that turns out!’
Class dismissed.

When I heard the ladies refer to their gay friends as “my gays”, I was a little offended as well. It seemed to be a running joke through the episode. I was glad to see Andy speak up and address the issue. So often its easy to let things like that slide.
