An emotional Roger Federer wins 103rd career title
At the age of 38, the great Roger Federer won the Swiss Open for a 10th time on Sunday. He beat 20-year-old Alex de Minaur of Australia, 6-2, 6-2, for his fourth title of 2019 and the 103rd title of his career. Jimmy Connors is the all-time men’s leader with 109 tournament wins.
“What a moment for me to win my 10th here in my hometown of Basel,” an emotional Federer said after the win. “[I] couldn’t be more happy. What a great tournament it’s been for me, always, but particularly the last few times I’ve been here.”
Federer, runner-up at Wimbledon and a semifinalist at the French Open this year, is currently ranked third in the world behind Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal.
