“American Idol” sensation Ada Vox will perform this weekend at Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles Voice Awards

I’ll be there – can’t wait! Powerhouse drag queen sensation Ada Vox will make one of her first appearances since being eliminated from American Idol at the 7th Annual Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles Voice Awards on Saturday at the Dolby Ballroom in Hollywood.

Ada was one of three contestants who failed to make it to the next round of ‘Idol’ on Sunday night. She made history as the first drag queen finalist in the show’s history. Ada had tried out for the show 12 times before as Adam Sanders, but returned for Season 16 performing as a drag queen.

The Voice Awards is the annual awards gala that pays tribute to people and institutions that use their voices to create positive change by advancing social justice and equality. CNN political commentator and strategist Ana Navarro will receive the Outspoken Voice Award and Tony Award-winning Broadway star Billy Porter will pick up the Courageous Voice Award. Local high school senior Zach Johnson will receive the first-ever Rising Voice Award. Plus, Broadway star and recording artist Shoshana Bean will join the chorus for a special performance.

“GMCLA is thrilled to welcome Ada Vox in what will be her first major performance in front of an audience since leaving American Idol,” said Jonathan Weedman, Executive Director of GMCLA. “We welcome her with open arms and congratulate her extraordinary success.”

Proceeds from the 2018 Voice Awards support GMCLA’s pioneering and groundbreaking youth and community outreach programs, including its Alive Music Project, which has reached more than 50,000 Los Angeles-area middle and high school students and its Arts for Incarcerated Youth program, bringing music and music education to youth in juvenile detention facilities.
