Allison Sweeney, who plays Will Horton’s mom on “Days of Our Lives,” leaving show at end of year
Lots of changes in the life of our Will Horton.
First the character underwent the most dramatic change of all with the transition from Chandler Massey to Guy Wilson.
Now we find out his mom will be leaving Salem! Well, the actress who has long played her, Allison Sweeney, is leaving after more than two decades on the show.
Allison made the announcement on The Ellen DeGeneres Show during an interview airing today.
“I decided that it’s going to be my last year with the show,” said Sweeney who is also host of the NBC reality weight loss show The Biggest Loser.
“I’ve been on Days of our Lives since I was 16 years old and I have never had more than a two-week vacation in that whole time. I mean, it’s so awesome. I love Sami, I love Salem, I love my job, I love daytime, I love the fans, I love everything about it,” Sweeney said. “I’ve worked so much and my daughter just turned five and my son is nine and I just want to be with them and enjoy my last year.”
It will be something of a long goodbye though.
“I’m going to be on Days all this year. We don’t have a specific time yet, but I’m going to be on all this year and we’ll see what happens.”

Like the sands through the hourglass so are the end of Days of our Lives. Who’s next to bite the dust? I guess there really are problems with that show and have been for so many months. The exodus continues but hey just ignore it as some people like to think everything is good with Ken and his team.

When I found out she was leaving today, I was really stunned and saddened. She has given so much of her life to Days, and I will miss her so much.

I was sad when I heard Chandler Massey was leaving, this (actress) is irrevelant at this point I just want Chandler back.
