Alan Rickman has died at the age of 69
Very sad news today.
Actor Alan Rickman has died at the age of 69. He had been battling cancer.
While he’s best known for his roles of Hans Gruber in Die Hard and Severus Snape in the Harry Potter film series, my favorite Rickman performances came in Love Actually and in Sense and Sensibility.
His co-star in both of those films, Emma Thompson, was also directed by Rickman in he Winter Guest and writes in a statement: “Alan was my friend and so this is hard to write because I have just kissed him goodbye. What I remember most in this moment of painful leave-taking is his humor, intelligence, wisdom and kindness.
“His capacity to fell you with a look or lift you with a word. The intransigence which made him the great artist he was – his ineffable and cynical wit, the clarity with which he saw most things, including me, and the fact that he never spared me the view. I learned a lot from him.
“He was, above all things, a rare and unique human being and we shall not see his like again.”
Announcing his death on Thursday, a family statement said: “The actor and director Alan Rickman has died from cancer at the age of 69. He was surrounded by family and friends.”
The clip below is from the film Dark Harbor which I have not ever seen but it’s notable here because it’s one heck of a passionate kiss with actor Norman Reedus.

I’m still in shock about Bowie and then I wake up to this.
What an amazing actor Rickman was. He stole so many scenes without even trying and he will be greatly missed.
