Ageless icon Cher turns 75 today!

MILESTONE: Let’s face it, there has never been anybody else like Cher. And there never will be.

At 75, thank God, she’s still going strong.

She is a forever star who has been a part of our lives since the 1960s when she reached the top of the pop charts as one-half of Sonny and Cher.

Then came television variety show stardom and a string of solo hits before splitting from Sonny.

Cher re-emerged in the early 1980s as an actress who quickly became an Oscar-winning movie star.

Cher then began to disappear for stretches but she resurfaces just enough with tops hits (Believe), the occasional movie (Burlesque, Mamma Mia 2) and new albums (Closer to the Truth, Dancing Queen).

Best of all, pre-pandemic Cher was still performing live both on tour and in Las Vegas, is prolific on Twitter and speaks her mind about politics and more.

It was so wonderful to see Cher receive the Kennedy Center Honors in 2018 which was so well-deserved. It is shameful – absolutely shameful – that she has not been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame considering she has had a number one single in six different decades and so many classic hits. If they can find room for Darlene Love, they can find room for Cher. I also think it’s time for her to receive a Presidential Medal of Freedom.

Long live Cher!

  1. Hi Greg, love your tributes to Cher today, and yes, it’s a shame that Cher is not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, because the creator of it doesn’t like Cher. Oh, well.

Here’s my tribute to Cher, in her classic role as Loretta in “Moonstruck,” that is an enduring favorite. Cheers, Rick

  2. Cher is to my eyes a class act. I was a teen watching The Sonny and Cher Show. I would listen to women say she should be a shame but I would be thinking she’s showing what a woman can do, not just what she is allowed. Now she shows she gives a damn just by speaking her opinion weather you agree or not. Happy Birthday #75 Cher.
