Afternoon Greg: Sharing some Tweets from a coupla film legends named Bacall and Fonda and other Twitter tidbits

Hoping you have a fun weekend planned!

My day was made yesterday when I got a tweet from Jaclyn Smith thanking me for sharing my memory of meeting her in the debut of this blog’s new Greg’s Celebrity Encounters feature.

Speaking of miss Vivien Leigh

I just love Twitter! I’ve had an account for ages and mainly used it to post blog items but lately I have become absolutely obsessed. It is such a treasure trove of information about friends and the famous.

For example, I was scrolling through my list of people I follow – I have more than 700 followers and follow more than 600 people – and noticed that Lauren Bacall had tweeted about her late friend, the great Vivien Leigh with whom she had been very close. And she included this glorious photo which I don’t think has not been widely seen before. It certainly has not been in any of Miss Bacall’s books. My guess is it was taken in the early 60s.

Anyway, Bacall also tweets that she is considering doing a film to be directed by Quentin Tarantino and also starring Christina Ricci. Nearly 85, she is still very much in demand!

Miss Bacall has just started to tweet some and it seems to be at the insistence of her granddaughter who has designed her Twitter page with many photos of her from her early Hollywood career and she Tweets:

Why does Brooke (my granddaughter) insist I use this thing?

…and why does she insist on decorating my Twitter with images of my youth? Sometimes I do not care to remember what I use to look like lol

Jane Seymour FondaThis Tweet from Jane Fonda caught my eye because I didn’t know she and Barbra Streisand were such pals! I love it! I also love that Jane uses her old mugshot for her Twitter pic!

GOOD NEWS: And speaking of Twitter, this is the first photo I posted using the Tweetie application which my pal Lorna showed me yesterday while we were at the Huey Lewis and the News concert at the Pacific Ampitheatre. I’m not a big beer drinker anymore but at a concert, it seems like ya gotta have a beer.
Huey did not disappoint and neither did our seat, about 10-15 feet from the stage. The dude is 59 and moves around the stage like he did the last time I saw him 20 years ago. He did all those big hits like The Power of Love, If This is It, Hip to Be Square, I Need a New Drug. Some people did not not need a new drug: the smell of marijuana was wafting through the air. I don’t smoke it but sure love the smell of it!
