Afternoon Greg: Playing catch-up; Bass passes; Arnold on Leno

I’m working from home today because I’ve just been a sleepy mess. Up late after the rally and march in West Hollywood last night and just sort of staggering through the day. And I’m not near through blogging today. There are more posts from the rally including some photos I took  and interviews I did that I want to share so stay tuned. Whatever doesn’t show up today will be posted tomorrow. If I wait much longer than that, the news gets a little moldy ya know?

OUT OF SYNC: One interview I won’t be sharing with you from the rally is with Lance Bass who acted like a punk when I approached him during the march. For someone who has written a book and been on the cover of People magazine with the “I’m Gay” headline, you’d think he’d be able to form a sentence for me on why he felt it was important to be there marching.

“I’m not going to say anything,” he said as he kept moving at a quick pace. “I don’t want it to be taken out of context.”

Well, it was still great to see him out there marching and I wish him luck with whatever he’s doing right now. Ironically, right after I was snubbed by Bass, I walked a few blocks down Santa Monica Blvd. and ran into Lance’s ex-boyfriend, Reichen Lehmkuhl. He was able to, right on the spot, give me an extensive and thoughtful interview and when I post it tomorrow, I promise it will not be at all out of context.

CLOONEY’S COMMENT: Oscar winner George Clooney says that yesterday’s California Supreme Court decision upholding Prop. 8 should fire up supporters of same-sex marriage moving forward: “This just should invigorate people to get it back on the ballot in 2010 and 2012 and every two years until all people are allowed a basic civil right,” the actor said in a statement.

Uh, Okay. I’d rather see George at a rally than see a statement but hey, maybe he’s off filming somewhere. We know he’s a really busy guy. And speaking of busy guys, California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger was Jay Leno’s guest on The Tonight Show yesterday and Jay – an outspoken supporter of marriage equality – asked him about the Supreme Court decision.

Arnold answered the question saying he believes same-sex marriage will come. But at this point, as a governor who twice vetoed marriage equality bills, I don’t much care what the star of Twins and Junior has to say about anything. Still, I share with you (below) video from the Leno show:
