Afternoon Greg: Miss California in breach of pageant contract; pics from SF GLAAD Media Awards

Greetings from Palm Springs. I’m on a bit of a holiday so the timing of my posts may be a little erratic for a few days as I put time in at the pool, shopping and, of course, at happy hour! Am keeping up with the news and wanted to let you know the latest in the Carrie Prejean controversy. The Miss USA runner-up gained fame for her stand against gay marriage but has since been embroiled in a scandal over posing for nude photos which apparently is in breach of her contract as Miss California USA.

Pageant officials said Monday that Prejean “entered the contest under false pretenses” by failing to inform contest officials of her involvement with antigay organizations. She has also failed to show up for public appearances as required under her contract, according to Keith Lewis and Shanna Moakler, co-executive directors of Miss California USA.

But it is not Lewis or Moakler who will decide her future: it’s up to Donald Trump! Trump owns the Miss USA pageant and is expected to announce tomorrow whether or not Prejean gets to keep her crown or will hear those dreaded words: “You’re fired!”

Lewis blasted the antigay organizations that decided to use Prejean as a spokesperson against gay marriage: “Shame for putting her in the position where she stood to possibly lose her crown, not for her beliefs, as you so screamed, but for the breach of contract you so willingly encouraged.”
