Afternoon Greg: Hollywood, je t’aime at LA Film Fest; Andrew Keegan on stage in “He Asked for It”

Blogging from Mudspot Cafe again and am rather thrilled to have just moved to a big round table that allows me to spread out just like I would at home. It’s going to be a busy weekend which I like. I have a few movies at the LA Film Festival on tap and will head on down to The OC Sunday for Father’s Day. My dad is the coolest and we’re very close so I like when we can make a big deal out of him and he can’t protest!

Speaking of the LA film Festival, one movie I won’t have to catch is Hollywood, je t’aime because I was sent a DVD screenerto prepare for an interview I have with writer-director  Jason Bushman on Monday.

I enjoyed the movie a lot, especially its West Hollywood locations. Star Eric Debets looks very much like Adrien Brody and I loved how people in the movie kept remarking on that. He’s come from Paris after a break-up with his boyfriend and wants to be a star. One of the first people he meets is played by Chad Allen!

I did not know Chad was in the movie so when I saw him on my TV screen, it was such a pleasant surprise! Here is the trailer. The first few second are MTFW! After that, you’re fine.

The movie is screening on Sunday at 7 p.m. at the Majestic Crest. go to the festival website to order tickets.

HE ASKED FOR IT: I gotta hand it to writer Erik Patterson. He’s an effective one-man PR machine when it comes to getting the word out about his new stage play He Asked for It currently being presented in West Hollywood. When I was walking the route of the Pride Parade last Sunday, there was Erik standing several yards from the Macha Theater holding a sign and handing out fliers for the show.

I plan to see it this weekend. The award-winning play, directed by Neil H. Weiss, is about the complexities of gay relationships in modern times and explores the lives of several HIV-positive men in Los Angeles.

It markes the stage debut of Andrew Keegan who we know best as the cute guy who had his heart broken by both Dean Cain and Timothy Olyphant in Broken Hearts Club. He was also one of the stars of the wonderful classic 10 Things I Hate About You opposite Heath Ledger and Julia Stiles.

Also in the play are Brian Unger (The Daily Show), Joe Egender (CSI: NY, The West Wing), Jeremy Glazer, Sarah Foret, Kyle Jordan, Carter MacIntyre and Alex Boling.

The play runs through July 19. For tickets and more information, click HERE!

And finally, my Search Engine expert pal Danny Sullivan called me this morning while I was blogging at Mudspot to pick my brain about LGBT terms. I had no idea what he was doing but knew that because of his mad genius mind, it would all turn out brilliantly.

It turns out that Danny, editor of Search Engine Land, was writing about how Google is once again flying rainbow colors to support gay pride celebrations happening this month throughout the world.
