AfterElton talks to ATWT’s new gay in town
Now this is a roadblock in Luke and Noah’s relationship that I welcome! Instead of Noah’s crazy dad or a green card marriage, Noah has an attractive new film school advisor played by daytime veteran Forbes March. His character of Professor Mason Jarvis debuted last week and AfterElton.com has a new interview with him.
Here are a few highlights:

AE: Did you know when you auditioned for the role that it was going to be a gay character or was that something that came later?
FM: Yeah. They didn’t put it in the breakdown, the character description, but when I read the scene, usually, when you’re doing an audition for any show, the scene is between you and your love interest. But when I was looking at the scenes, the scenes were between me and a guy. All three of them. And I thought, “Ah, that’s interesting,” because there was obviously a flirtation going on there. So I Googled it, and it was calling them the new Luke and Laura, Luke and Noah.
AE: [Luke and Noah fans are] very protective of their couple. They’re just like, “Oh my God, this guy’s going to break them up!”
FM: Oh, that’s great! Good for them. I’m very careful to protect my belief that you shouldn’t try to be liked by everybody as an actor. That’s a real death trap. The idea is a delicate story. If they hate me, I’ve succeeded. If they love me, I’ve succeeded. Death is not having a reaction. I hope they stone me on the way out of the studio. That would be second best. I’d rather be showered with flowers, but if they stone me, that’s a good second place. At least you got them.
AE: What is it that Mason finds attractive about Noah?
FM: I think it’s a combination of things. Least of all, he’s cute! Good heavens! He’s a tall, dark man! Lovely! [laughs] I mean, come on! That’s not the most of it, but there is the physical attraction. Then there’s the fact that he’s just so innocent and lovely and not corrupted — and I don’t mean in a dirty way, I mean in that wonderful way. He’s a wonderful partner. He’s the kind of man that Mason, ironically, though he has far more experience than Noah in relationships, has never come across. He’s sweet. He’s a sweet man.
AE: And what does Noah see in Mason?
FM: Besides my amazing biceps? I have no idea. That’s a question for him.
