After canceling on Boy Scouts, Carly Rae Jepsen agrees to perform at White Party
I like this girl.
Less than two weeks after canceling a gig with the Boy Scouts of America because of their anti-gay policies, Carly Rae Jepsen has booked one of the gayest gigs in America: the White Party in Palm Springs.
The Call Me Maybe singer will headline White Party T-Dance on March 31.
For yhose unfamiliar, the White party is one of a number of parties held annually and its name comes from the requirement that party-goers dress in all or almost all white. Past headliners include Lady Gaga, Mary J Blige, Robyn, ke$ha and Jennifer Lopez.
A party with more than 20,000 gay men scantily clad in white is a far cry from performing at the opening ceremony for the National Scouts Jamboree 2013 this summer.
Jepsen spoke with MTV News last week about the decision to drop out of the scouts event.
‘It was sort of one of those things that I kind of have my opinions about, and everyone’s entitled to their own, but it wasn’t necessarily something that I felt comfortable backing once I learned more about it,’ she said.
‘And that being said here’s hoping they make the right decision and I’m praying that moves like this will help.’
Well said Carly!
