Adam Lambert wasn’t worried about appearing “too gay” at last night’s American Music Awards
I’m so absorbed with all of the reaction and debate over Adam Lambert and the American Music Awards last night.
The debate over whether Adam crossed the lines of what is appropriate for a broadcast television audience with the simulated oral sex and same-sex kissing has certainly wiped out last week’s debate over whether Adam was afraid of being “too gay” in Out Magazine.
Pul-eeze!
First of all, I watched the performance of For Your Entertainment and thought it was really fun overall. I loved the kiss, notsomuch the simulated oral – that seemed over the top.
As for Adam, whose new album FINALLY comes out tomorrow, he managed to eclipse Whitney Houston”s comeback, sweeps by Michael Jackson and Taylor Swift, Janet Jackson’s tribute to her late brother and Jennifer Lopez’s big spill.
And he makes no apologies for any of it: “You know honestly, if I offended some people… it’s apples and oranges. I’m not an artist that does things for every single person,” he told Access Hollywood. “I believe in artistic freedom and expression, I believe in honoring the lyrics of a song, and those lyrics aren’t really for everybody either.”
He also said he considered editing his performance discrimination: “There’s a big double standard, female pop artists have been doing things provocative like that for years, and the fact that I’m a male, and I’ll be edited and discriminated against could be a problem. People are scared and it’s really sad, I just wish people could open their minds up and enjoy things, it’s all for a laugh, it’s really not that big of a deal.”
Adam Lambert is on a mission, it seems, to get the entire uptight world to un-clench!

I thought it was a great performance, and the only problem I had with it was him flipping off the audience at the end.
To me, that was just dis-respectful to people who might buy his album. Just my opinion.

Just as bad ad Madonna kissing Spears. They can all sing, but I could care less about their sexuality. And I’m gay!
Pt says:
Double standard: yes. Janet Jackson did the same exact thing when she opened the show last night.
She was standing behind a male dancer. She reached under him grabbing his crotch. He turned around and
on his knees buried his face in her crotch. What’s the difference when there is no reaction to her, but there is
much made about Adam doing it 3 hours later? Oh yeah, it’s 2 guys.
