Adam Lambert to receive GLAAD Award!
Why the exclamation point in the headline?
Because I think Adam Lambert is so damned cool and I’m excited that he’s going to be honored by GLAAD, the organization formerly known as the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation.
Adam is going to be presented with GLAAD’s Davidson/Valentini Award at the San Francisco ceremony on 11 May.
The award is named after Craig Davidson, GLAAD’s first executive director, and his partner Michael Valentini. It is presented to an openly LGBT media professional who has made a significant difference in promoting equality for the LGBT community.
It’s so cool that Wilson Cruz, the talented actor who has become a high-profile GLAAD staff member, released the statement about Adam.
Says Wilson: ‘Adam Lambert’s continued success as one of the world’s best-selling pop stars shows LGBT people that they can be themselves and make it in a mainstream industry that many feel unfairly rejects them. Adam is fearless on stage and astonishes audiences in every country he performs in.’
Previous Davidson/Valentini honorees include director Lee Daniels (Precious), actors Chad Allen, Alec Mapa, B.D. Wong, and Sandra Bernhard, and The L Word creator Ilene Chaiken.

Congrats to Adam. He’s an inspiration to a lot of people both of the LGBT community and well…everyone. I’m a proud Glambert living in the UK and like a lot of US Glamberts wish there were more radio stations that played his music. But we know he’s an amazing person now the rest of the US will know. Can’t wait for the GLAAD awards then everyone will see he’s a beautiful man with an enormous voice.
