Adam Lambert to anti-gay protesters: “Go use your energy for something productive.”
The American Idol tour hit LA a few days ago and went off without a hitch with winner Kris Allen and breakout star Adam Lambert getting most of the attention.
But a few days earlier at the San Jose stop, members of the Westboro Baptist Church decided to show up and demonstrate against Adam because, you know, he ‘s GAY!
These people really need to get lives and look into why they are so anti-gay. I always say it’s usually lne of these reasons: you are afraid of your own same-sex attractions or you are afraid your kids might be gay. I mean, why else would anyone really care?
Anyway, it’s one thing to be a homophobe but you really show your true colors when you are carrying signs, like this “church” did, with slogans like “God Hates Fags.”
Michael Sarver, a former contestant also appearing on the Idols Live Tour, wrote on his Twitter page: “Funny how people think it’s a good idea to mess with a big Texan and his [American Idol] family. Adam is just fine, shakes it off and so should we.”
Adam told E! Online’s Marc Malkin column that he’s trying not to think too much about protesters: “I don’t think I’m going to change their minds. I respect their opinion, but they didn’t need to come to a concert and spread negativity…Go use your energy for something productive.”
