Adam Lambert is still being coy on the gay thing – and it’s starting to bug me
I was all ready to hail Adam Lambert as the first openly gay winner of American Idol.
Then Kris Allen won.
Now I’m ready to hail Adam as the first openly gay runner-up of American Idol (bitchy Clay Aiken stayed in closet until lat year). But in the wave of publicity surrounding last week’s finale, Adam has not been out and proud – even as the California Supreme Court upheld Proposition 8.
Instead, we are getting silly comments like this from the talented singer: “Calm down,” he says, and “keep speculating.”
To Rolling Stone he says: “Maybe.”
Here’s a quote on People.com that is at least somewhat empowering if only he would live up to it: “It’s a really, really cool thing,” the American Idol runner-up says, “to be able to show people that you can be yourself, and you should be proud of yourself, and you should own who you are and what you’re about, and never make apologies for it.”
Okay, the time to come out or shut up is fast approaching.

Greg, you’re totally off base on this one. Adam Lambert has never been IN the closet, so naturally, he doesn’t feel the need to come OUT. If you or others in the press cannot see what’s plainly evident in front of your eyes, why does HE need to “make it official” just so you’ll have a nice neat sound bite or quote for your articles?
Have you seen his Friendster profile? This is the one he had way before Idol, was locked by the AI powers-that-be during the season, but is now unlocked again.

Are the lines “Interested In: Dating Men, Relationship with Men” and “Openly Gay” and the profile picture of him kissing his boyfriend Brad enough of an “official statement” for you?

Why does Adam have to come out and disclose his sexuality?
Why is that impostant to the rest of us?
Do you disclose your sexual preferences and accept questions from strangers about it?
Not trying to be bitchy, but I don’t care if he is gay or not…I’m just glad his talent has been recognized and we’ll all be able to enjoy his music .
PS: many straight men are aching over Adam’s power over women…
