ABC reportedly furious with ‘The Real O’Neals’ star Noah Galvin: ‘He caused a grade-A shit show’

The Real O’Neals star Noah Galvin has made his bosses furious by giving an explosive interview last week in which he maligned Bryan Singer, Colton Haynes and Eric Stonestreet.

Executives at ABC, which airs the show and recently renewed it for a second season, are reportedly fuming over the 22-year-old Galvin’s behavior overall.

The Hollywood Reporter reports that an executive producer is ‘begging the network not to take action’ by reducing the order for new episodes.

‘He caused a grade-A shit show,’ says a source. ‘ABC screamed at him all afternoon.’

The young actor, who is openly gay, slammed Colton Haynes for the manner in which the actor came out last month, dissed Eric Stonestreet’s gay portrayal on Modern Family and accused director-producer Bryan Singer of inviting ‘little boys over to his pool and diddle them in the f-cking dark of night.’

He then issued a detailed apology for his ‘brazen and hurtful comments’ on the day the interview was posted. But what may have the network the most furious is what Galvin, 22, had to say about the network.

He was critical of ABC for waiting until May 12 to renew the so-so rated sitcom about Catholic family with secrets (it is based on sex columnist Dan Savage’s childhood).

The actor, an unknown before the series, described it as an ‘abusive waiting period.’

12 Remarks

  1. I used to say dumb shit when I was 22. Noah willl be a better person because of this.

  2. I think Noah addressed real issues in an entirely inappropriate way.
Most people realize that there are men with power who use the ‘casting couch’ to take advantage of young men and women who dream of making it big in show business. But naming names without solid proof is a fast way into a law suit.
Most people realize that there is homophobia in the industry that keeps gay and bisexual actors in a glass closet (needlessly IMHO). But, Colton Haynes was a victim of that pressure not someone who benefitted from it. I think he should be respected for finding the strength (in his own time)to push back against that pressure.
Most people, hopefully, realize that stereotypes are still too much with us, but stereotypes are based in reality. They’re just not the entire reality. I don’t watch Modern Family all that much, but when I do watch an episode, it seems that the script is laughing with Cameron & Mitch not at them.

It seems to me that someone convinced Noah that he was a breath of fresh NYC air, and God’s gift to TV. I presume that after this faux pas, he realizes his true place in the world.

I tried to get into liking this show. I just don’t think it’s that good and I wouldn’t be surprised if it gets cancelled soon regardless of this occurrence.

I’d assume Mr. Galvin must get it by now. If I was starting out in an acting career, I surely wouldn’t be throwing shade at others in my field of work. You never know if you may need that person to help you out in your career later on.

    1. Clearly Hayes did benefit from the closet ( the industry has no problem casting gays unless they are out to the wider public , eg not friends and family and in the know co workers ). He came out after got famous and in a some what coy way

    2. The Modern Family portrayal of gay people is fairly sterotypical, but then so is The Real ONeils. I like both shows but let’s call a duck , a duck

    3. This kid’ s real mistake was thinking Holywood is interested in honesty.

    4. It’s ironic they are want to punish an actual gay actor who is playing gay for saying things that are mostly true

So much for freedom of speech and opinion.

    K. Martinez says:

Ed Meiller, The kid exercised his freedom of speech and gave his opinion. And now he can expect pushback and repercussion. Freedom of speech just means you won’t be locked up by the government for expressing your beliefs, political ideology or opinion even if it’s against the state.

You can still get fired from your job if expressing your opinion reflects poorly on the company you work for. In this case he was publicly critical of ABC. No one is guaranteed employment and contracts are made to be broken. In addition if you slander someone you can surely expect a lawsuit coming your way.

As for his comments about Colton Hayes, I don’t care for it when gays criticize other gays for not marching lock-step with the gay agenda. To me that is just mindless conformity. We are all free to choose how we come out and when we come out or how we lives our lives as LGBT people. The kid just needs to shut up and focus on his career.

    1. So you are ok with people being punished for telling the truth? If not , I fail to see why you are defending the industry on gay issues

    2. And to be clear , ironically you contradict yourself with the second statement – so long as one is gay, one should not criticize other gays. Even if the other gays are wrong ? How far are you willing to take this ? Should no one have criticized gays for Trump? How far are you willing to take this silence ? The irony here is that in trying to I
obtain your objective you would do so by enforcing the conformity Hollywood likes of us while claiming to be a non conformist. I believe in nuance and subtly . This kid did not say anything that outrageous other than some people inhollywoid wanting to enforce the way Hollywood likes it’s gays – neutered

  8. How Colton Hayes came out isn’t anyone’s business and to be thrown under a bus by someone who thinks they should be able to dictate how someone comes out isn’t brave, it’s just really mean and rude.

Colton Haynes is also only 26. People are allowed to process who they are.

  9. This kid just seems like a total jerk to me.

  10. @Joe-I think he’s just young. Time will tell though.

How Hayes came out is of course people’s business just like anything else put in the press for public consumption

If you truly believed that it’s no one”s business , you wouldn’t be here consuming pop entertainment news

  12. I am very disappointed to find out what an ass Galvin is. I liked the O’Neals, and thought his character was cool. Seems that Noah could learn a few things from his character about being a good guy.
