Aaron Schock takes his abs to Coachella and James Duke Mason says: “The gays who associate with him … should know better.”

Former US Congressman Aaron Schock seems to be living his best life these days now that he’s free from prosecution.
But his anti-gay voting record while he was a member of congress is not forgotten by many as he builds his life in Los Angeles and, if you judge from his social media, lives a life that very much resembles that of a gay man with great abs.
James Duke Mason, a West Hollywood political activist, saw pics of Schock and his buddies at Coachella and let him have it in this Facebook post: Normally I wouldn’t comment on something like this, but I am just infuriated by these images of former Republican (and anti-gay) Congressman Aaron Schock partying with a group of gay men at Coachella. The fact that he would think he could show his face in public, particularly when he has NEVER renounced or apologized for his votes against gay marriage, gays in the military and against anti-discrimination laws is astounding. My intention isn’t to out him or target him personally, but simply to point out the hypocrisy. I saw him at a recent gay social event in West Hollywood and shook his hand before I realized who he was; he should really be ashamed of himself. And the gays who associate with him without calling him out should know better. It really is a disgrace.
Thoughts?
And let’s remember this:

I posted this (and tagged his public figure page) on my page: “OK, Aaron Schock – you have one chance to get this right, to make good with the community you once worked against and now may possibly be a member of. One chance only. When you’re ready to talk I’m ready to listen.” I also sent messages to him via two of the guys pictured with him above. Am I angry with him for his past behavior? Certainly. I also want to listen to him, to hear what he has to say. This is his one shot to come clean and apologize, and if he is indeed a member of our community now he has both a responsibility and an opportunity. I hope he doesn’t mess this one chance up.
Brad Delaney says:
Aaron Schock should be ashamed of himself! He needs to issue a public apology for his anti-gay votes which harmed our community.
Tim says:
I would not take that guy anywhere.
John Purves says:
Schock is a typical right-wing conservative (gay or not). They are so entitled they feel they can say one thing and do another, rules are for others and do not apply to them. In his case a pretty face/body hides an ugly mind.

This is real news and the LGBTQ community deserves at very least, an apology after the harm he caused with all of his votes against our community as a member of GOP Congress! And not just once! He has displayed the height of hypocrisy, and is just having the time of his life. How many of our LGBTQ youth did this negatively affect? I have a friend that died at his own hands for how our community is perceived. Schock and his group of friends have displayed pathetic behavior and this needs to be addressed ASAP.

Towleroad has a picture of Schock kissing a guy-no not a peck-and getting to third base and in some books a home run. Somebody has some explaining to do. I don’t care if he is gay or straight. BUT when you go out of your way to disavow, vote against our community, and there is clear evidence that your gay, it’s time to take you to task. Let’s talk Aron. Oh yes, what is with gay guys wanting to be with him. I learned years ago. Being gay can be like high school. You have the A, B, C gays. C-gays trying to move up to B or A, B-gays trying to get to A, and A-gays looking down on everyone else and protecting their turf. Sounds like politics.

Whoever that not only is gay but also knows gays (many, many gays by the way) cannot ignore the universe o psychological problems, shame, ignorance, self hatred, self defeat, induction to believe what goes against your own nature, family distrust, hatred, friends with issues, religious prejudice, etc. We know that many homophobes are simply terrified of themselves, of losing the (sometimes fake) love and support of whom they believe to be their own. May be the only experience they knew about their sexuality was the ugly, sordid and skewed face of some dirty part of their sexuality (imagine if heterosexual men only had a chance to exert their sexuality only with hookers, that wouldn’t be a positive view of heterosexuality, or love, etc.), there are SO MANY factors in play and so many more we may never know.
That said, WHO ARE YOU mister “James Duke Mason” to be the High Inquisitor of someone’s life, and that is calling publicly on someone so he must confess and apologize for his past’s “sins” according to your own entitled self righteous convincement (maybe that guy has done the proper process with his psychologist or psychiatrist, if so, a professional knows BETTER and may be let him live an open life). To finally live his life as another gay person may be is the best and the most that he can do without falling back into a quagmire of self hatred and despise. Who told you, “James Duke Mason”, that he owes you a special act of constriction for his mistakes or his ignorance or that his friends (or whatever they are) must act as the ideological police of your, so well established, morality. The kind of you remind me of those who demand conversion to the true faith of the old Spanish Inquisidores and that, while being keen to be sadistic in their denouncement put a fake act of empathy in front of their community to appear to be so bright, shiny, pure, diligent, saved and exemplary. You, mister Mason, are not looking for inclusion, you simply are chasing after those who don’t follow your particular tribalism and I suspect that whether you don’t know the universe of psychological issues that comes with having a sexuality with many hindrances and hurdles or you are a HUGE HYPOCRITE.
