A wonderful compilation of Meryl Streep’s funniest moments – as various characters and herself

I’m so glad I came upon this compilation of Meryl Streep because she really is so funny.

Yes, her three Oscars were for very dramatic roles (Kramer vs. Kramer, Sophie’s Choice, The Iron Lady) but she’s been nominated plenty off times for comedic roles including The Devil Wears Prada, Postcards From The Edge, Julie & Julia). She’s also been completely hilarious in such comedies as Death Becomes Her and It’s Complicated. She-Devil showed was her comedy side for the first time and while I liked her in it, I hated the movie.

But she irks absolutely the funniest as herself. I love her recollection here of auditioning for the 1976 film King Kong – it’s towards the end and it is perfect. I watched it five times in a row just to relive the way she says the film’s title.

And during the Emmy Awards, the year she won for Angels in America, the orchestra tried to start to play her off the stage. Big mistake. She handled the moment with such perfection as she began to sing her speech.
