A tribute to Garry Marshall who has died at 81

Last summer, I was struck by how supportive and loving Garry Marshall was on opening night of Outfest to his friend Tig Notaro whose film was opening the festival.
Below are some of the photos I snapped of them on the red carpet including one with the night’s honoree John Cameron Mitchell.
It wasn’t the first time I saw Marshall at an LGBT event but, sadly, it was the last. He died earlier today at the age of 81.
The creator of Happy Days, Laverne & Shirley, Mork & Mindy and The Odd Couple is gone.
His most recent feature film, Mother’s Day, was released in May and featured an all-star cast that included Julia Roberts and Jennifer Aniston.
When I look at his body of work as a movie director, there are so many that stand out with my faves being Beaches (of course!) and Overboard (of course!). Those are movies I can watch over and over – and have! He also directed Pretty Woman, The Princess Diaries and Runaway Bride among many others.
He will be missed!
