A grim anniversary…
REMEMBERING: It was 13 years ago today that college student Matthew Shepard was severely beaten and left to die in a hate crime. You will read more about him and his legacy in the coming days but I wanted to mention him on this day, a day when Aaron McKinney and Russell Henderson robbed, pistol-whipped and tortured this bright young man with his whole future ahead of him.

An odd thought. Matthew wore a very small size shoe so finding a really good looking shoe his size was quite a find! His mother mentioned how depressing it was for Matthew when he lost or had stolen a pair of his shoes, black patent, I believe. I have always had a difficult time finding decent looking shoes because I have size that is not regular. Losing any of my shoes would truly upset me.This fact made him so much more of a real person for me and his loss even more terrible.
