A chat w/Cherry Jones of “24”

It’s been a lot of fun (and hard work!) covering the Television Critics Association winter press tour for the past seven days.

One of the real highlights for me was chatting up Cherry Jones after the 24 panel.

Although she’s been a successful stage actress for many years, the two-time Tony winner has all kinds of new fans thanks to her high-profile TV role as President of the United States Allison Taylor on the action show which has its eighth season premiere tonight.

“With television, it’s got to be in the eyes, the truth has to be in the eyes,” she said.  ”I now get it and I look forward to the process. I used to hate it. Now I understand the way it works and I love working that small. I’ve spent my life working before a thousand people in large houses and it’s wonderful to just barely make a breath and you know that will, hopefully if you do it well, will have an impact.”
