With Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz dominating, men’s pro tennis has two class acts at the top

My favorite tennis player on the planet, Carlos Alcaraz, lost in the final of Wimbledon earlier today to reigning Australian and US Open champ Jannik Sinner, the world’s top-ranked player. Alcaraz, who edged Sinner in the French Open final just five weeks ago, was aiming for a third consecutive Wimbledon crown.

But he was outplayed by an unflappable and extremely-focused Sinner who won 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4.

Much has been made in recent years of the sports losses of Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal to retirement and the slight decline of Novak Djokovic who at 38, has still managed to make it to the semifinals of all three majors played in 2025 as well as win his 100th career title.

But this is now the Sinner-Alcaraz era with one or the other winning the last seven grand slam tournaments. Not only are they superb champions, they are respectful of each other and such class acts.

The sport is in good hands!
