You can now call her Dame Angela Lansbury!

How cool is this?

The great Angela Lansbury has been made a Dame of the British Empire.

The British-born star was one of more than 1,000 people who were recognized by Queen Elizabeth II in the New Year’s Honors List.

Miss Lansbury, 88, received an honorary Academy Award last month for her film career and is also the winner of five Tony Awards for her work on Broadway. She was nominated for an Emmy – and never won – for each of the 12 seasons she starred on TV’s Murder She Wrote.

2 Remarks

  1. Splendid.

Now, about all of those Emmy nominations and no wins. That says more about the voters than the talented Dame!

  2. Mark Twain once said “The exaggeration of my death has been greatly exaggerated” Ms Landsbury, I have gone years not watching your beautiful talented face. However recently, I watched you in a classic with Orson Wells, Mr. Paul Newman and Ms. Joanne Woodward. The sound of your voice stopped me from my “channel surfing” and I watched the entire movie. My Mom taught me “waay” back (even before your time :) whom almost every one was from the “silver screen”. I’d say “Mommy, How do you know all these people?” And she’d say “we didn’t have tv’s honey”. Of course i couldn’t phathom that. However NOW… I get it! Anywho, my Mommy LOVED you and “Mrs. Fletcher”. She never missed an episode. Planned her days around your program :) Today, I say CONGRATULATIONS DAME ANGELA LANSBURY and thank you for unbreaking my heart. To know you are still with us gives me a piece of “Mommy” back. God bless and keep you.
