WTF? Susan Boyle loses “Britain’s Got Talent”

Something’s screwy with these talent shows. First Adam Lambert, clearly the best talent, loses American Idol to Kris Allen in a shocking upset. Then a week later, Susan Boyle finishes as runner up on Britain’s Got Talent despite a rousing performance of I Dreamed a Dream in the final.

Pul-eeze.

Like Adam, Miss Boyle will be a much bigger star than whoever did win but you have to start to question the credibility of the whole thing. Susan is still such a wonderful success story, a woman in her late 40s who sings like a dream but until about a month ago, only her family and small Scottish town knew it!

Now the world knows it and I hope she has a great ride in showbiz if that’s what she still wants. I know I’d buy any CD she records!

Oh, for the record, the dance group Diversity won the British talent show.

Below is video of Susan’s performance in the finale:

2 Remarks

  1. … because dance groups are just so wildly popular and translate so well to mainstream success. Oh wait, they don’t. WHATEVER!

  2. I watched every episode of Britain’s Got Talent and Diversity was my favorite act. I think Susan Boyle suffered from a backlash due to overexposure and her antics over the past week. And even when she was off (as she was in the semifinals) the judges still heaped praise upon her as if she performed perfectly. If I could have voted, I definitely would have voted for Diversity. Susan is like Adam Lambert – she didn’t need to win. Besides, I think it’s great that Diversity gets to perform in front of the Queen :)
