Wilson Cruz in a New York state of mind
Saw one of my favorite stars, Wilson Cruz, at last night’s Macys Passport Glamorama event and he had some big news: “I’m moving to New York!”
Wilson, who starred on Broadway as Angel in RENT and played Michael in the LA production of Tick … Tick … BOOM! wants to do some work on the stage.
“I’m moving in a month to go to New York and pursue more theater,” he explained. “I’ll be there for at least six months and if I get a show I’ll stay longer. I’ve been in LA for 11 years and I’ve done some theater once I’ve been here but , you know, I’m a theater brat and I need to go back and replenish my juices if you will and I want to be part of the Broadway community again.”
He has not yet signed on for a show but says “there’s some stuff in the works.”
Wilson, who came to fame in the ABC series My So-Called Life and was also a cast member of Noah’s Arc, most recently starred in the film The People I’ve Slept With which provided him with one of his juiciest screen roles yet.
“We had limited engagements in New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles and now it’s going to be on Logo in the fall,” he explained. “I’m sure it will be like on a loop which is nice. The response has been really great, the reviews have been fantastic, the NY Times loved it.”
