Weekend Tip: See “Justin Love” at Celebration!
I saw a wonderful musical a few weeks ago that I’m just now getting around to posting about.
But there is still time to see Justin Love at the Celebration Theatre in West Hollywood.
Here’s the plot: Justin Rush is Hollywood’s biggest movie star with a beautiful, devoted wife, more money than he knows what to do with, and a huge summer action blockbuster set to open.
He also happens to be gay.
Things get complicated when he falls for his publicist’s assistant and his wife becomes involved with a tabloid photojournalist.
The show is a hoot, filled with fun musical numbers and moves along at a nice clip from start to finish. Love the quick Access Hollywood-type cut-ins too.
Adam Huss plays Justin Rush and certainly has the handsome looks and body to believably be the object of the public’s affection. Huss is a better actor than a singer but is solid and effective in all of his scenes. Tyler Ledon is Chris, the young assistant he falls in love with and his singing chops are strong. They make for an appealing pair of male leads.
But here’s my favorite part of the show who steals every scene she’s in: Kim Reed as Justin’s publicist and Chris’s boss. She is just delicious and is given many chances to shine. Great singing, superb comic delivery and timing. Loved her in a big way.
