Wednesday Morning Man: Matthew Wilkas!
The Los Angeles Film Festival kicks off on Thursday and one of the movies I’m most excited to see (other than Magic Mike, of course) is Gayby.
I saw the short film version of the movie about a gay man and a straight woman who decide to have a baby together.
The man is played by the very handsome Matthew Wilkas.
I met Matthew a few summers back when the short film screened at Outfest (the feature is part of the Outfest schedule this year!) and he could not have been nicer.
Good things have happened since for this rising young actor who is openly gay: He is one of the co-stars of the Broadway musical Spiderman: Turn off the Dark (he plays Flash Thompson also the understudy for the Spiderman/Peter Parker).
“I’m pretty much in love with everyone involved in this production,’ he told The Broadway Blog last month. ‘It’s a tight family and I feel really lucky to be a part of it. … It’s pushed me so far beyond my limits and I’m so grateful for that. I’m loving every second of it.”
Matthew is from Maine and went to Boston University and participated in the Williamstown Theatre Festival for three summers. He has had roles on Ugly Betty and Hope & Faith and appeared in the feature films The New Twenty and The Bits In Between.
So where would be like to be 10 years from now?
“On my own TV show,” he tells The Broadway Blog. “Something like Modern Family or Six Feet Under or Parks and Recreation or The Comeback or Party Down.”

He’s so good in GAYBY (as is the entire cast). I saw it at the Fort Worth International LGBT Film Festival a few weeks ago.
I have a role I want him for in THE PORN BRAT PACK. He’s a great actor.

Such a good looking man! Nice that he doesn’t shave himself to look like a pre-teen. The one photo of his fur is incredibly sexy.
Joe says:
Matthew is a beautiful man!
Lionhart says:
Yeah, he’s hot…very hot…extremely hot. I think he might be another one of my biological fathers. Damn…there are so many…but I would be extremely happy if the DNA test came up positive…
ND Mitchell says:
Ok, I’m in love and heaven……(wiping the drool from my chin)
