Wednesday Morning Man: Jon Hensley!

His family thinks his character of Holden Snyder is  dead on As the World Turns but they are just about to find out that he’s alive and well and had been kept captive!

Holden;’s abduction and the fallout provides some  meaty scenes for the handsome actor who has played him for 20-plus years: Jon Hensley.

He’s been part of one of daytime’s super couples for much of that time: Holden and Lily (played by Martha Byrne until last year when she was replaced by Noelle Beck). But I like Hensley’s character because he’s the coolest dad of a gay son in soap history.

When I met Jon last year on the red carpet of the Daytime Emmys, I wanted to know how he felt about his television son, Emmy-nominated Van Hansis, coming out as gay several years ago,

“When they first told me about the storyline, I was pretty skeptical about whether or not we should be doing that in daytime,” he admitted. “It’s turned out to be, I think, one of the better storylines in the last 10 years. Fans have really loved it.

Jon said: “They really wanted my character to very supportive of him, whatever sexuality he chose and what’s really wonderful about it is I guess there aren’t that many parents like that when their sons come out to them initially and tell them that they are gay. But Holden dealt with it and he loves his son.”
