Watch two generations of Dorothys rehearse the power ballad “Home” for “The Wiz Live!”
In preparation for the NBC broadcast of The Wiz Live! on December 3, 18-year-old Shanice Williams has been rehearsing the lead role of Dorothy in a New York studio. She’s had some special help: Stephanie Mills, the original 1975 Broadway Dorothy, who plays Aunt Em in this version.
It’s such a classy and wonderful thing to have Stephanie a part of this production and clearly, she’s still got it!

I was just playing Stephanie Mills “home” just yesterday. OMG she is one of the greats. I always wanted her and Whitney Houston to do a duet together.

I saw Stephanie Mills as Dorothy on Broadway. Hard to believe so much time has gone by but she still is beautiful with that same fantastic voice. I will never forget the finale. The image of that beautiful, tiny and talented young woman alone on a Broadway stage singing her heart out with people standing up applauding and cheering for her even before she finished the song was nothing short of amazing.

WOW, AMAZING, FINALLY …. The lost Diana Ross CD will be released Nov 27. She recorded songs from The Wiz that were her own soulful interpretations and recorded after the movie was filmed.
