WATCH: Harry Hamlin still blaming “Making Love” for his 40 years between studio films
I think Harry Hamlin is talented, handsome and he’s had a very successful career with highlights including LA Law, Mad Men and being People’s Sexiest Man Alive at one point. So how could starring in 1982′s Making Love, in which he played a gay man, be the sole reason why his next studio film came 40 years later in 80 For Brady? If he was ever to be the huge movie star that he thinks he was poised to be after 1981′s Clash of the Titans, it surely could’ve happened post LA Law if it was going to happen at all. He has been saying Making Love killed his career in any interview or screening for decades now and I just don’t really buy it. But to his credit, he has played gay again as Lloyd Lishman, an older lover to Ian Gallagher (Cameron Monaghan) on Shameless. And for the record, Hamlin was sensational in Making Love opposite Michael Ontkean – among the best work of his career.
