Wanda Sykes turns 45 today!

Happy Birthday to New Adventures of the Old Christine co-star Wanda Sykes who came out publicly last fall in the weeks leading up to the vote on Proposition 8.

Wanda is so smart and funny and just about steals every movie that she’s in. Remember Evan Almighty? I didn’t love the movie but I did love every single scene and every wisecrack she made. Then there was Monster-In-Law. I was thrilled to have Jane Fonda back in the movies where she belongs but when you think of the really big laughs in that movie (other than the hilarious Elaine Stritch cameo at the end) they usually involved Wanda. But boy, seeing her each week on Christine is just a gift. Wanda and Julia Louis-Dreyfus are one of the great TV comedy teams of all time.

Whatever Wanda is doing today to celebrate this milestone birthday (45 is a milestone, right?), I hope she is having a fabulous time!
