Video: Andy Cohen reads hilarious childhood letters from summer camp to Stephen Colbert

Long before he spent his summer interviewing celebrities and globe-trotting with BFF Anderson Cooper, Andy Cohen spent his summers at Camp Nebagamon in Lake Nebagamon, Wisconsin.

The Watch what Happens Live host attended the sleep away camp from the ages of nine through 15 and often wrote letters home to his parents.

During a visit this week to The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, some of those letters were brought up by the host who described them as ‘an early indication of what Andy Cohen would be like.’

He then asked Andy to read a few aloud which he did with absolute gusto.

Here is the text of the hilarious letters from the future king of the Real Housewives franchise:

‘Dear mom and dad,

Today is the first day of camp. I hate going on planes. I threw up on the plane. Boy was I sick. I don’t like this camp so much but I’ve only been here four hours. Don’t show my letters to anyone. Listen to this saying: “When you’re hot, you’re hot. When you’re not, you’re not. When you’re on the pot, you give it everything you’ve got.” I’ve gotta go to bed.

Love, Andy

Dear mom and dad,

I’m about to kill this camp! I flunked the canoeing test four times and I’m afraid to death to do it. … I am FROZEN now. the canoe guy says I have to come back tomorrow and I’m really scared. Please send me stamps and comics. I’m scared about tomorrow.

Love, Andy

Dear mom and dad,

Today I listened to the royal wedding from 5:30 to 8 on the radio and then saw an update about it and saw Lady Di and Charles get married on TV. Please save the Time magazine and the Life magazine for me. If you still have The Globe or The Post, save that for me too.

Love, Andy

Dear mom and dad,

I just got back from Ted’s cabin and I am steaming mad. Either you or one of the Arkins told Mrs. Kay or Nancy that I told you that Teddy was homesick. Teddy told me that his mom wrote him a letter that said Andy told the Cohens that you were homesick. He showed me the letter himself! I was red! I had to deny saying that! Do you know how hard that is? Keep your mouth shut.

Love, Andy

Dear mom and dad,

See Grease for crying out loud! See it! Grease is a good movie so see it! Don’t read this letter to anyone.

Love Andy
