Van Hansis reflects on the Luke-Reid storyline and end of “As the World Turns” at fan event

We’ve been savoring every moment of the Luke Snyder – Reid Oliver storyline on As the World Turns which leaps off the screen because of the skill and chemistry between actors Van Hansis and Eric Sheffer Stevens.

The show comes to an end in September and I know I’m eager to see the Reid-Luke story play out but have been so disappointed at how the writers (or producers or network etc) has slowed things down to a snail’s pace and allowed us to see these two exciting characters once a week at the most.

And after sharing the most passionate male kisses in daytime history, they are now back to being chaste like Luke and Noah before them.

Good grief. Grow up people!

Hansis and Jake Silbermann (Noah) met with fans at an event in Paris recently where they posed for photos and answered questions for their international audience. (AfterElton.com’s Gays of Our Lives column has a full report).

“There have been other people who have tried to come between Luke and Noah and people didn’t seem to care,” Hansis said of the Luke-Reid romance. “Now people care. I think it’s because it’s a real viable option. It’s a great story and will continue to be until the middle of September. … One of the sad things about the show being canceled is that the story would have kept going and going and going and it would have been a really cool thing to see what Eric does with all that stuff and what we would have done with it.”

Hansis gave insight regarding the last day of filming: “The last day was sad. It was nice though. A majority of the cast was on set that day. Whenever someone was done with their scenes because the last day has a lot of people in it, the producer would come out and give a round of applause and the crew would give a round of applause for the actors. It was sad, but it was nice.”

  1. I’m guessing Luke will go back to Noah in the end, but hoping he & Reid get some hot sex before then (I mean, what is CBS gonna do, cancel it if it gets too hot in the Snyder hay loft???).

It really is a testament to ESS and VH that anyone is still interested in this storyline. They surpass the material they are given to work with.

Their kisses, glances and body language generate more heat than other couples actually shown having sex.

As far as the lovemaking scenes, I get the feeling all we’ll get to see is the “afterglow”. zzzzzzzzz.

  3. VAN HANSIS is my favorite actor. I really want to see more of him in this show.

  4. at the end of the show noah gets killed by hes father and luke moves on with reid and they get marryed and live happley ever after

  5. As a long time watcher of ATWT and even after all this time no couple has gotten to me like Luke and Reid.Theirs was a love story like no other.I’m still missing them even after all this time. They were like two pieces of a puzzle. They fit together so perfectly.I loved them as a couple, I love Eric, and I love my sweetheart Van.( the man of multi hair colors and styles and he’s so gorgeous in every one!)
