If you’ve been watching As the World Turns in recent days, then you must know that Jake Silbermann’s character of Noah Mayer is not having the best time right now.

First off, he’s mad at his boyfriend, Luke, for getting his film advisor fired just as he’s trying to complete his senior project. And then there’s this: there was an explosion on his film set and now Noah’s blind!

It wasn’t that long ago that the 26-year-old Jake was doing college projects for real. He’s a graduate of Syracuse University where where he participated in many stage productions including Three Sisters and True West.  After college, he had no problem finding work as a model with his tall good looks.

Jake joined the cast of the CBS soap on his 24th birthday in June 2007.

His on-screen chemistry with Van Hansis (Luke) has made them one of the show’s more popular couples and the first gay supercouple in soaps. They have had many outlandish things happen to them from Noah marrying a woman to getting kidnapped to Noah learning that his psychotic father killed his mother.

“Any script we get, you try and find what resonates with you,” Jake told me when we spoke last year at a Daytime Emmys party. “It is a soap so there are outlandish things that happen but that’s the fun of it.”

   I get the vibe he might be straight in real life.

   I’ve watched both Luke / Noah and Kyle / Oliver. I think One Life to Live carried out a better storyline with the gay weddings. I still can’t believe Dorian lost by one vote to Viki. She did the job before and lasted on a short time.
