Tuesday is National Coming Out Day!

I came out to my friends in my 20s then to my family in my 30s.

Now in my 40s, I find that I’m still coming out all the time because we are constantly faced with new people and new situations. Each time I do mention that I am a gay man, it still feels utterly terrific – and empowering.

I wish that for everyone.

But it wasn’t always that easy for me. Many National Coming Out Days came and went with me keeping my mouth shut and feeling sick inside.
