Tuc Watkins is Broadway bound in “White Lies”

Tuc Watkins is best known for his television roles on Desperate Housewives, One Life to Live and the late, great Showtime series Beggars and Choosers.

But he’s going to be spending some time on the New York stage this summer.

Tuc has been cast as the lead in the play White Lies, a new comedy by Ben Andron and directed by Bob Cline. It is scheduled to begin preview performances on April 12 and open on May 6 at New World Stages. Also in the cast: Betty Buckley, Peter Scolari, Christy Carlson Romano, Rena Strober and Jimmy Ray Bennett.

Tuc has extensive TV credits and his film roles include The Mummy, The Good Shepherd and I Think I Do. But he is no newcomer to the theater. His  stage credits in Los Angeles and regionall, range from Julius Caesar to Sexual Perversity in Chicago. He won a 1992 Drama-Logue Award for Boy’s Play and was singled out by the critics for his role in Fortune’s Fools, at the Cherry Lane Theatre in New York. He also is one of the founders of The All-U-Can-Eat Players.

The handsome actor is stepping into the role of Joe White in place of Scott Patterson, the Gilmore Girls actor who has landed a fall pilot.

Joe, scared stiff at the prospect of settling down, is a divorce lawyer representing one of his many ex-girlfriends. Above all else, he’s a bachelor who wouldn’t have it any other way. But his mother desperately wants him to start a family. So, he makes one up!

New World Stages is located in Manhattan at 340 West 50th Street. For tickets, priced $60 and $75, call (212) 239-6200 or visit www.whitesliesonstage.com.

One Remark

  1. Congrats to Bob Cline! He went to the same high school I did although he was a couple of years behind me. I knew he was damn talented and glad to see he’s still heading upwards in his career.
