‘Transparent’ already renewed for a season four by Amazon – show’s third season has not even premiered

Transparent, the absolutely terrific series about a transgender woman and her complicated family, has already been renewed for a fourth season by Amazon Studios.

No, you didn’t miss season three. The renewal comes well before the show’s third season has even begun streaming.

Series lead Jeffrey Tambor plays Maura Pfefferman, a retired college professor with three grown children and an ex-wife who announced her transition at the start of season one to her stunned family.

Subsequent episodes have revealed other family members to have plenty of secrets of their own.

Creator Jill Soloway, whose father is a transgender woman, says ‘it’s so much more than TV to us – it’s our version of the most ambitious streaming art we can conjure.’

‘We’re having the time of our lives sharing season two for the awards season hoopla, and editing and finishing up season three for a fall release,’ she says in a statement.

‘This news of an order for season four is so so sweet. The Pfeffermans have many more stories to tell and we can’t wait to keep making them.”

Tambor has won the Emmy, Golden Globe and Screen Actor Guild awards for his performance.

At the Screen Actors Guild Awards in January, he dedicated his victory in the category of actor in a comedy series to real-life transgender people who who are not as privileged as his television alter-ego.

‘She’s very entitled and has a lot of money and I’d like to dedicate this award to the non-Maura Pfeffermans who don’t have a lot of cash for their operations, their medicines, their freedoms.’

He also thanked Soloway ‘for the responsibility of Maura Pfefferman’ and ‘for changing my life.’

Glad to hear. I just hope it maintains the same level of quality the first two seasons have. It’s been my favorite show for the last two years.
