Tony Awards: Out stars David Hyde Pierce, Nathan Lane, Cynthia Nixon, Andrew Rannells & Gavin Creel get nods

The Tony Award nominations were announced today and it’s so delicious to see that Bette Midler has been nominated for Hello, Dolly! and that her competition includes two-time Tony Award winning Broadway legends Patti LuPone and Christine Ebersole (both nominated for War Paint). I’m even more thrilled to see several gay performers nominated in various categories including past Tony winners Nathan Lane, David Hyde Pierce and Cynthia Nixon. I’ve put the name of openly gay nominees in bold but may have missed some so please point out any in the comments and I’ll update when Iu can.
